Once again we where given a very warm welcome in to the home of Gordon and Dorothy Stoves. As far as numbers where concerned there where a number of apologies which resulted in six (certainly not six of the best) of us meeting for a night of sharing and encouragement.
After some general “small talk” part of which where some stories of our different experiences of “speaking” and “sermons” some where humorous some however where quite sad and underlined how much prayer is needed on that subject, Dave Glover opened the meeting in prayer
Reuben Horsley very bravely volunteered to go first, showing us “Ali Bongos hat” and a routine with a packet of coloured crayons.
Mike Angove then set the meeting on fire (literally) with a trick which was fashioned on Fogal Fantasy and Flame. Mike’s routine was based on “Deal or no Deal” but instead of the boxes being discarded the envelopes went up in flames. The trick was very visual and caused quite a stir. The one envelope, which was left, was the one with the money in. Mike is either very good at magic or is very rich!
Who would dare to follow that? Tony Southwick stepped up and performed three tricks. The first one was a full pack of cards which was placed into a protective box and then disappeared (or at least he said it was a full pack) The second trick consisted of six envelopes, five had sad faces in one had a happy face. A member of the audience, then, choose a number, which in turn dictated which envelope, thankfully the envelope with the happy face was chosen. The third one was an act of balance. Tony managed to balance a ping pong ball on one? Piece of cotton.
Dave Glover followed with two tricks for the Christmas period. One where Rudolf disappeared and the second based on Isaiah 9:6 “Unto us a Child is born”
The next meeting will be held at Gordon’s home on the 12th March 2007. Meeting at 7.30
