The sunshine for the FCMUK regional gathering at Brian & Jacquie’s home was welcome contrasts to the foot of snow for the gathering at the beginning of the year with the sunshine bringing out the best of their large garden. Six of us met, beginning the session with a meal together and catching up on the latest news. The real business began with Brian, having succumbed to buying a Pom-Pom stick to use to open a talk on balancing work/ministry/family and leisure at a bible college later in the year, sought some tips on the general handling of the prop. John Mohamed was seeking ideas with a mentalist bias and demonstrated the Bilton Diary trick that used a card stack that minimised the brainwork required for the reveal – appreciated by all. |

Simon performed a progressive prediction’ with a clear gospel message illustrating the fore-knowledge of God using a rough/smooth deck – one that I will certainly adapt I am sure. Simon also helped with a reprise of his Bunko Booth from the last conference – and verified the old truth that “if something can go wrong it will” as he lost his money to John. This led into an informative discussion on the need for scripting in some form or other (particularly for those of us with little performance experience and consequential stage fright), the need to check props (aptly demonstrated during the afternoon!) and good volunteer selection drawn from the experiences of those present. John then finished with a good performance of the Milton Aces.
