The Three Wheels by David Pritchard The props for this Gospel talk are very simple. You will require three spoked bicycle or pram wheels as follows:
Pick up the first wheel and ask if it would be any good to use as a wheel. Ask why it will not work. Eventually, somebody will point out that it has no centre. This is how our lives are and how our church is if we do not have Jesus at the centre of them They just will not work as they were intended to and will not work properly until we put Jesus back in his proper place, at the centre of our lives and our church. Pick up second wheel and give it a spin. Point out that this wheel has a centre but it does not work properly because it is buckled. Why is it buckled? it's because all the spokes are pulling at different pressures and some are not pulling at all. Some are even pulling in the wrong direction. This is like some of our churches. Not all the people are pulling in the same direction. Some people are letting other people do all the work and some people are working so hard that they are forgetting to do the really important things like praying and reading their Bibles. Pick up the third wheel and give it a spin. This is a good wheel. This is how our lives and our churches should be. Jesus is at the centre of everything and everybody is pulling together and in the same direction to make sure that it keeps moving ahead. |
