My wife Helen was recently
asked to do a Gospel magic spot at an outdoor Christmas carol service
where it would be very dark.
She needed to be able to perform something which could be seen in the
darkness such as light or fire.
We came up with the following idea which is cheap to make up and very short and to the point.
Requirements
1 x small chick pan or any device capable of producing a load.
2 x De-lites one for each hand
8 x electronic night lights available from the pound shops
1 x large dark blue or black handkerchief
Setup
Place four electronic night lights switched on into the load container. On top of these place the four remaining electronic night lights switched on and face down.
Clip the load container into the lid.
Place the dark handkerchief into the pan crumpled up and place the lid with the load onto the pan.
The handkerchief should prevent the pan from fully closing and releasing the load container.
Place a De-lite on each thumb and you are ready to perform.
Routine
Hold up the chick pan and say "The world was full of darkness" take off the lid and remove the dark handkerchief. Replace the lid and cover the pan with the handkerchief. "Darkness covered the whole earth."
Jesus was in Heaven with his Father. Hold both hands together above head height and activate both De-lites.
"Because he loved us so much, Jesus left his father's side and came to our world to be the light of the world."
Bring one hand down to the chick pan and extinguish the De-lite.
If we ask Jesus into our lives he fills us with his light and love and we too become lights for others.
Take off the lid of the pan and remove the lit night lights which can the be displayed by volunteers.
