We sit in quietness and join with the Saints.  Our silence and our prayers link back through time and space to those who have gone
before.

They who found communion with You by drawing aside from the business of the world.  Help us to relax and put aside our endless
chatter, and clamour of the day.

What did the apostle say " Speech is no more than a noisy gong or a
clanging bell. "

Noise is part of our everyday world, our culture, from which it is difficult to escape.  We find ourselves strangers in an alien land.  Silence is almost vulgar to us.

If we are to hear You speaking Lord, then we must enter this new experience.  An experience where the only sound is that of our heart beat, our breathing, the pulsing of our blood.

In this new found silence Lord, hear our call and respond to our needs
and enter into our joys.
