Another Chain Escape

simple chain escape trick ball chain loop routine
Take your ball chain loop and place it over the left hand so that it hangs down as shown in diagram 1.

Chain escape diagram 1 and diagram 2

Keeping the fingers of the left hand pointing upwards, pick up the loop at point X and bring it up the back off the left hand so that the left hand part of the loop comes between the index and middle finger and the right hand portion comes between the third and little finger. Bring the chain straight round the outside of the thumb as shown in diagram 2. do not twist the chain.

Chain escape diagram 3 and diagram 4

Keeping the chain tight take the lower part clockwise around the little finger as shown in diagram 3. Take the top part anti clockwise around the index finger as shown in diagram 4. Lift the two loops of chain from the thumb and take them over the chain 'B B' and drop them between the two middle fingers. The two loops should hang down the back of the left hand as shown in diagram 5.

Chain escape diagram 5

If you now grasp the chain at 'A A' with the right hand and pull it towards yourself the chain will appear to penetrate or melt right the way through your fingers.

Please note that in the diagrams the chain loop is shown shorter than it will appear in real life. This has been done for clarity and it is hoped that this will make the diagrams easier to understand. When performing this effect it helps if you keep the chain tensioned during all the moves. This makes it easier to perform as you can easily see if you have made a mistake. A ladies bead necklace works very well in this effect in place of the chain. If the beads are of a metallic finish then the effect will show up very well even on the largest stage. There is no need to rush the moves in this effect, in fact the slower you do it the more mysterious it looks.
